Summer fun: Top water sports to try near Cas Saboners in 2025

At Cas Saboners, you are just a four-minute walk away from the beach, known as Platja de Son Maties. Yes, only FOUR minutes. That means that all kinds of beach and water activities are on your doorstep. From snorkelling to paddleboarding, let’s dive into your next undersea adventure.
Make a splash while snorkelling
Pick up a snorkel and mask from one of the shops on the front at Palma Nova and head to the beach and into the great unknown. Make sure you’re wearing reef-safe sunscreen, especially on your back, and plunge into the clear, calm sea and another, much more peaceful universe. Even in the shallow waters, you should see a wide variety of Mediterranean fish, such as bream, cardinalfish and perhaps even the odd starfish. Rocky areas often showcase the best marine life, like sea anemones. But watch out for the black, spiky sea urchins. If you prefer to go deeper, try a boat trip to the marine reserves, where a snorkel and mask are included. On board, there is usually a bar for refreshments and a sun deck to catch some rays when you are not enjoying the secret lives of these beautiful colourful fish.
Paddle(board) along the coastline
This activity takes a bit more skill—and most importantly, balance. Boards are available to rent in several spots across Palma Nova—ask at our front desk for more information. If you’re an experienced stand-up paddleboarder, you can get up and away on your own, but if this is your first time or you’re not so confident, we recommend a lesson or a tour so you can make the most out of your paddleboarding experience. Group tours are also available, which can be fun. And if you’re struggling to stand up, don’t worry, you can also kneel or sit down. This a great way to see the southwest’s beautiful coastline and, again, remember to wear biodegradable sunscreen.
Kayak adventures—like a boat, only better
If there are two of you, then a kayak might be the activity for you. Arguably more comfortable and less effort than stand-up paddleboarding, a kayak is a great duo sport that takes you around the coast, into caves and beyond. This way, you can really explore and see everything. You can hire kayaks in Palma Nova or, if you prefer a multi-hour tour, there are also guided experiences to spots you might not discover otherwise. One of the advantages of a kayak is that you can carry things with you, like water, which is perhaps more practical if you want to stay out for a few hours.
Safety is really important for all of the above, so always remember to check the dos and don’ts with the rental company. Once you’re safely kitted out, explore the beauty of the Mediterranean from above and under the sea.
