So, it comes as no surprise that there are plenty of sights and attractions for you to explore. Below we’ve created a short Palma guide that can help you make the most of your time in this city. Happy exploring!

La Seu Cathedral

This iconic Gothic cathedral is a must-see landmark. Wowing visitors with its impressive architecture, both inside and out, as well as its elevated location overlooking the Bay of Palma, it truly is a sight to behold any time of the year.

Almudaina Royal Palace

Located next to the cathedral, the 14th century Almudaina Royal Palace is a historic building which originally served as a Moorish fortress, before becoming the Balearic residence of Spanish monarchs. Explore the spectacular rooms and gardens which make you feel like you’ve been transported back in time.

Arab Baths (Banys Àrabs)

These well-preserved 10th-century baths provide a glimpse into Palma's Moorish history. Once part of a larger complex, they were the social meeting point in the ancient city of Medina Mayurqa. The Arab Baths feature a small rectangular room with a central pool, supported by elegant columns with horseshoe arches and were built using recycled Roman and Byzantine architectural elements. Don’t forget to explore the peaceful gardens that surround the baths.

Bellver Castle

Bellver Castle is a historic fortress and one of the most distinctive landmarks in Palma, thanks to its circular design. Dating back to the 14th century, the castle is situated three kilometers west of the center of Palma in an elevated position overlooking the city and the surrounding countryside. Over the centuries, the castle has served various purposes, including as a prison during different periods. Today, Bellver Castle houses the Palma History Museum.

Palma Old Town

Palma’s old town is a vibrant and picturesque area filled with narrow cobblestone streets, historic buildings, charming squares, and a rich blend of architectural styles. Home to some of the city’s most stunning buildings, such as those designed by modernist architect Gaudí. It’s here you’ll find some incredible shops, as well as the famous Mercat de l’Olivar, where you can sample local delicacies and marvel at the incredible selection of fresh produce.

Passeig del Born

This tree-lined avenue in the heart of Palma is the home of shopping and dining. Connecting the Plaça de la Reina and Plaça Joan Carles I, it’s one of the most vibrant boulevards you’ll ever stroll down. The buildings that line the street showcase a variety of architectural styles, ranging from medieval to modern. Shopping wise, luxury designer stores mix with high-street faves such as H&M and Zara. The avenue is also the cultural centre of the city, often hosting street performers, artists, and musicians, fairs and events.
