Mallorca, a Hiker’s Paradise

November 13 2023

Yes, it’s true that Mallorca is a hiker’s paradise! It shouldn’t come as a surprise, given how incredibly beautiful this island is. Offering diverse landscapes, romantic towns and cultural highlights, it’s a place you’re guaranteed to fall in love with. Keep on reading to discover our favourite hiking routes and tips to ensure your active holiday is a success.

Explore the Serra de Tramuntana

This mountain range, declared a UNESCO World Heritage site, dominates the northwest of the island, providing a dramatic backdrop for hikers. Featuring rugged peaks, lush valleys and picturesque villages nestled into the mountains, it’s a true gem. Here, you can choose from a variety of routes ranging from challenging hikes to more leisurely walks.

If you’re looking for an unforgettable experience, we recommend trying the GR 221 dry stone route, which runs all the way from Pollença to Andratx. This long-distance trail is incredibly challenging, as well as rewarding. You’ll pass by famous vineyards, cultural highlights and might even encounter a goat or two along the way.

Hiking near Cas Saboners

Should you be in the mood for a more relaxed hike, try one of our favourite trails near Cas Saboners, which is located in the heart of Palmanova. For an easy, family friendly hike that takes in spectacular scenery, as well as some interesting archaeological and ethnographic sites along the way, then the walk to Finca Publica de Galatzó is for you. In total the hike is about 9km, with 232m of climbing and should take you around 3 hours.

Should you wish to embark on a full day hike, try the 11 km loop to the Camí de l’Arxiduc, which was mapped out by Austrian Archduke Ludwig Salvator in the 19th century.

Another longer hike (7.5 km) starts at Carretera de Cala Fornells and takes you to Cap Andritxol.

Whether you're a seasoned trekker seeking challenging mountain trails or a casual hiker wanting to explore Mallorca’s coastlines, this island offers everything a nature and culture lover could ask for.

We’re excited to see you at Aparthotel Cas Saboners in 2024!
